Asian students who come to America to study have many different ambitions. Some wish to earn simply improves their English speaking skills. Others may have a goal of earning a BA, an MA or a Doctorate degree.
No matter what the long-term goal, all Asian students coming to America to advance their study program have similar obstacles to face. It is both an exciting and a challenging time, since each student will face brand new cultural, living and study challenges.
School literature is helpful, but not always the kind of information the foreign student will need, in order to maximize learning opportunities and be successful in their studies in Southern California. Asia-California Connections feels this is a significant problem. While there will always be an adjustment period for all foreign students coming to America to study, we feel these issues needs to be addressed, in order to make the student experience in foreign study most valuable, both in pre-planning and in living and studying in Southern California.
